A Resolution of the Town of Arrowsic, Maine, To End the War in Iraq PDF Print E-mail

A Resolution of the Town of Arrowsic, Maine, To End the War in Iraq

Whereas, the Town of Arrowsic, Maine, supports the women and men serving in the United States Armed Forces in Iraq and recognizes the sacrifices that each of them is making; and,

Whereas, the human cost of this war now stands at more than 3,000 United States soldiers killed, over 47,000 non-mortal United States casualties, and over 650,000 Iraqis killed; and,

Whereas, the economic cost of this war now exceeds $450 billion, with estimates of total costs during and after exceeding $2 trillion, so that we cannot adequately fund basic social services, including health care and education, and maintain essential infrastructure;

Now, Therefore, be it Resolved that the Town of Arrowsic, Maine, urges the President and U.S. Congress to act swiftly and decisively to immediately stop all funding for the war in Iraq, end the occupation of Iraq, and bring all U.S. troops safely home.
