The Federal Budget is the government's annual plan for spending of tax revenues. Ninety percent of the government's revenues come from three major categories of taxes: individual taxes, corporate income taxes, and payroll taxes. The Federal Budget outlines the amount of this money to be spent on programs and agencies of the government such as defense, Medicare, education, community development, and protection of the environment. The Federal Budget is comprised of a mandatory and a discretionary budget.
