9/20/08 - Million Doors for Peace
A new and exciting campaign is
underway to end the war in Iraq, bring the troops home, and invest in America's
future.
On September 20, 2008, MILLION DOORS FOR PEACE (MDP) will be launched, a
national day of outreach on which we will ask over one million people from
across the country to sign petitions urging the next Congress to bring the
troops home from Iraq in less than a year.
While there have been massive protests against the war before - with Congress
barely paying attention to people's frustration, and the media only offering
short-lived coverage - Million Doors for Peace will pursue a different path.
Instead of bringing thousands of people together in one place, the initiative's
objective is to talk to people right where they live.
For that to happen, however, we will need your input: We want you to join
thousands of other volunteers from all 50 states, download a neighborhood "walk list",
identify and talk to neighbors who oppose the war in Iraq, and invite them to
join the effort to responsibly end it. For further details, simply visit www.MillionDoorsForPeace.org.
This unique approach of grassroots activism is supported by the following
coalition partners (as of August 2008): Catholics United, Cities for Peace, CodePink, MoveOn.org, Pax Christi USA, Peace Action, Progressive Accountability, Progressive Democrats of America, Organic Consumers Association, United for Peace & Justice, USAction & TrueMajority.org, Voters for Peace, and Win Without War.

7/25/08 - House Hearing "Executive Power and Its Constitutional
Limitations" - TAKE ACTION!
This Friday, July 25th, the House Judiciary Committee will convene a hearing
called "Executive Power and Its Constitutional Limitations." While
not defined explicitly as a hearing on the articles of impeachment that Rep.
Dennis Kucinich has put forth, this is the closest we've seen to a formal
discussion on Capitol Hill related to the issue of impeachment. Click here
for the AP article explaining what's happening.
There are several things you and your group can do between now and
Friday:
* By clicking here
you can send a message to members of the House Judiciary Committee. Be sure to
tell them how important it is for them to be at the hearing on Friday, and for
them to speak up for impeachment.
* Get in touch with your local media outlets before Friday and urge them to
fully cover the hearing. And it would be great if you can also get in touch
with national media outlets to demand that they cover the hearing. For media
contact information click here.
* Sign - and get others to sign - the petition organized by
Dennis Kucinich! (We had some trouble logging on to this site, so please be
patient and keep trying!)
* If you are in or near Washington, DC try to get to the hearing yourself.
Folks need to be there early, by 9 am. The hearing will be in the Rayburn House
Office Building, Room 2141 starting at 10 am. For more information contact
ningroup@gmail.com.
